Egg Food Challenge

Well today was an exciting yet nerve racking day. Today Logan tried eggs at the doctor to see if he had outgrown the allergen. The challenge began at 9:30 in the morning and he was doing really well eating scrambled eggs for the first time. Noon was the last time Logan ingested egg. We left the doctor's office about 2pm excited that Logan would now be able to eat egg and other products that had egg as an ingredient. Finally doors were opening up for us. Around 6pm I started noticing Logan was just acting unlike himself. It wasn't a few minutes later that I noticed he couldn't stop scratching his back. I decide to lift his shirt and scratch his back, that's when I noticed he was beginning to break out in a rash all over his back. It wasn't soon after that the rash started spreading. Soon I put the pieces together and gave hime Benadryl. After waiting to hear from the doctor 3 hours after my initial phone call, he finally guides be onto the path of what else needed to be done to calm Logan's allergic reaction. In the meantime, all we could be was give him Benadryl and watch the rash spread. He wasn't having swelling of any body parts or trouble breathing, so there was no need to use the Epipen. Logan is the only known case to have as significant of a delayed reaction to a food challenge. It will be several years before the challenge is tried again. From now on all of his blood work will be going to the Mayo Clinic to make sure that we do not get invalid results as we apparently did recently. The next time this is tried the doctor and myself have decided to hospitalize Logan to make sure he is where he needs to during an allergic reaction. We will continue to avoid egg and anything that "may contain" egg.

Trampoline Disaster

Logan was given a trampoline for his birthday from Tony's grandmother, Bubbles. The first week of December it was finally put up. Well 2 weeks later Tony walks out the back door and you will see what he stumbled upon. The last picture is the lastest one taken a few days ago.

Now the new trampoline is up and secured into the ground!

Christmas 08

Sitting with Mommy ready for bed...and yes, I was feeling very bad

Decorating Christmas cookies at Grammy & Papa's house

Well... Christmas came and went with a blink of an eye this year. It felt as though a whirlwind carried the time away. Logan really enjoyed his time playing with his cousins and being around his Grammy and Papa for several days along with spending some time with Granny, Grandpa Larry, Paw Paw and Nana. This year Christmas was not as pleasurable for little man as we had hoped. On Christmas Eve he started running fever and just wasn't acting like himself. He was not into his gifts too much then, but now that he is feeling much better, he LOVES all that he was given. Next year we are shooting to be healthier all year!
